Introduction

The recent Hurricane Katrina disaster provoked a variety of educational issues and responses germane to the work of CAJE members. Here is a survey of some of the most important weblinks, from both Jewish and secular sources, that will be useful for CAJE members.

Note that some members will inevitably disagree with some of the responses, yet the very fact of those responses being offered by recognized communal leaders makes it important that CAJE offer members links enabling them those who chose to do so to educate themselves regarding such controversial responses.

Because many members of the Jewish community are donating to relief causes through their local federations or other local branch channels of national organizations, links to pages whose sole function is to solicit donations has been omitted; the purpose of these links is to provide information other than where to donate. Sadly, as with any disaster, there are already cautions online about donating only through reputable channels. It is probably wisest for CAJE members to contact familiar, local, communal authorities about making donations or organizing school or class projects.
