Modifications to your registration may be made online or by submitting changes to the CAJE National Office in New York by July 1, 2005.
Your application will not be processed unless it is accompanied by a $360 deposit ($50 of which is a nonrefundable processing fee). An application sent without a deposit or with invalid credit card information will delay processing (and could disqualify your EarlyBird Status and possibly your ability to join us at the Conference if the Conference registration closes).
CAJE and the University of Washington will do their best to meet the special needs of any Conference participant. All of the facilities CAJE will use on campus are wheel chair accessible. If you have particular physical or dietary challenges, please let us know about them by writing the CAJE National Office in New York, so we can prepare to make you as comfortable as possible.
All cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the CAJE National Office. If your written cancellation is postmarked by July 1, 2005, you will receive a full refund of Conference fees, less a $50 processing fee. CAJE membership fees are not refundable. After July 1, 2005, you will receive the portion of Conference fees not contractually due, less the $50 processing fee. These refunds will not be sent until CAJE has paid all Conference bills. Special circumstance cancellations will be reviewed on a case-by case basis, only if communicated to CAJE in writing. No refunds will be issued prior to the Conference except for those not accepted into the Teen Leadership Kallah.
For CAJE members unable to meet Conference costs, limited partial scholarships are available. Write or email the National CAJE Office to request information and an application. Since many local communities and schools provide grants and funding to attend CAJE, we urge you to first check for funding in your local community. We also offer a limited number of work-study positions. CAJE work-study assistants will be required to work five hours per Conference day (Monday, August 15 – Thursday, August 18) in exchange for full Conference funding. Work-study positions are for the Conference only and do not include Shabbat, Tisha B’Av/Pre-Conference, or single room supplement. Applicants will be screened based on work skills and financial need. To apply for a scholarship click here, for work-study, click here. You must have a complete Conference application on file including deposit and membership prior to applying for either option, and the deadline for all requests is May 20, 2005.
Enrollment at CAJE 30 is on a first-come, first-served basis. Spaces could be filled well before the posted final payment deadline. You are urged to submit your forms and payment as early as possible. Applications postmarked after June 17 must be paid in full or they will not be processed.
We have arranged a block of rooms at special prices at the Watertown Hotel ($129, single or double occupancy) and University Inn ($99–109, single or double occupancy), which are hotels affiliated with each other, both proximate to University of Washington. You may register for either hotel online by going to the hotel website, and clicking on group reservations. If you have questions about either hotel, please call Kari Speratos at 866-944-4242, ext. 270. When making reservations, be sure to identify yourself as a CAJE 30 participant.

educational setting. The program includes pedagogic techniques, text study, and experiential
programming in a setting rich in Jewish values and ideas. Outstanding personnel in Jewish education
will lead sessions. Applicants must request and complete the entire Teen Leadership Kallah
application packet and submit full payment in order to participate in this program and be
registered for the Conference. To apply go to www.caje.org/teen. Note: Due to a generous grant by the Myra Reinhard Family Foundation, we
can offer the Teen Leadership Kallah at a special rate of $375. There are a limited number of
spaces at this discounted rate.
Every teen participant must have a sponsoring adult on site at the Conference for the full duration of the Shabbat/Pre-Conference/Conference period.
Lay Leaders’ Program
In recognizing that lay leaders are both decision makers and participants in Jewish education, CAJE
invites lay leaders to attend specialized programming designed to enrich, inform, and empower them
in these roles. Information on this special program will be sent out by the CAJE Office. If you are
interested in receiving it, please indicate your interest on the application page.
Much of the joy of CAJE is what happens outside of the classroom setting where networking and meeting friends occur spontaneously and often after-hours. Those who get the most out of a CAJE Conference immerse themselves in the whole experience by staying on campus. The cost of the Conference (Aug. 15–18) includes all programs, meals (Monday dinner through Thursday dinner), lodging, including bedding, towels, soap, drinking cups, and local-access telephones with voice mail. Buildings are not air-conditioned, relying instead on the temperate Seattle weather. Small fans are placed in each sleeping room. Ethernet access is available in sleeping rooms for those who bring laptops.
If you register as a commuter, you are entitled to all programs and meals (Monday dinner through Thursday dinner).
We have made arrangements with Shuttle Express to provide shuttle service between the University and the airport (Seattle-Tacoma). Click here to view their rates and make reservations.
Programming will begin mid-afternoon, Monday, August 15. You should plan to arrive on campus in the early afternoon. The closing program will be on Thursday afternoon, August 18. You may want to take advantage of a Thursday night extension in your room to enjoy Seattle.
All food is prepared under rabbinic supervision. Meals at CAJE are dairy/pareve (except Shabbat dinner and lunch, which are meat meals with vegetarian options available). Provisions will be made for people who let us know about specific food allergies in advance.
We encourage you to register and bring your whole family to CAJE. There are options for every member of your family.
Tuesday – Thursday, 8:15am – 5:15pm
Please note that there is NO childcare during Shabbat and Tisha B’Av/Pre-Conference.
Childcare and camp will be provided by staff members of the Seattle Jewish Community Center. For children under 5, childcare is conducted on campus. For children ages 5–12, an off-site day camp experience will be provided.
Group babysitting is available Monday through Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to midnight. ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Additional information will be sent after we receive your completed childcare application(s).
For children up to age 12, just fill in the appropriate spaces on your application. Don’t forget to add their fees to your total cost.
Yes, apply right away! Your child must be pre-registered for CAJE childcare/camp. Enrollment in our children’s programs is limited by the availability of staff and facilities. Children are accepted strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Complete details about the childcare programs as well as health and information forms will be mailed to those who enroll.
Cribs are available only by registering and paying in advance. (Make sure you request a crib in the appropriate space on your application.)
The fee for childcare/camp is $150. This is in addition to the basic charge for children of differing ages to attend the Conference either as commuters or residents. Please check the appropriate lines on the fees page of the application to ensure that your child is enrolled in childcare. Childcare/ camp includes daycare (8:15am–5:15pm), evening babysitting (if requested in advance), and a beeper for parents with children under the age of 5. If your child is age 5 or over and you wish a beeper, see “Extra Fees” on the application. Children 12 and under should be registered on your application.
